William Forstchen, Ph.D.

William R. Forstchen is a Professor of History and Faculty Fellow at Montreat College. He received his doctorate from Purdue University with specializations in Military History, the American Civil War, and the History of Technology.

He is the author of more than 50 books. With Speaker Newt Gingrich, he is the co-author of To Try Men’s Souls, Valley Forge, and Victory at Yorktown, a series of historical novels about the American Revolutionary War. His book One Second After, about the aftermath of an electromagnetic pulse attack on the U.S., was a New York Times Best Seller. Its sequel, One Year After, was published in 2015. His latest best-selling novel is “48 Hours,” published by Tor Forge. Forstchen resides in Asheville, North Carolina.
